Lentil Soup

Ingredients
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 onion, sliced
5 cups water
1-1/2 cup lentils
1 teaspoon dill
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons rice

Directions
1. Pour oil in pot; saute onion in oil.
2. Add water and lentils and spices.  Boil low to medium heat for 1 hour.
3. Add 2 T. rice to soup last 15 minutes.  If soup is too thick, add more water.

Notes
This is very simple but satisfying with a hearty loaf of bread (and maybe a sprinkle of parmesan cheese). You gotta cook it with a wooden spoon to get the full experience!
